Family Involvement

ASDB knows that family involvement is key to having a successful school. Parents are partners in the education of their children. There are many ways in which families can contribute to the school program:

  • Attend parent-teacher conferences and IEP meetings
  • Join school field trips
  • Volunteer in the classroom
  • Donate money or items for use in the classroom
  • Attend parent-school organization meetings
  • Participate in parent organization activities
  • Help with educational celebrations
  • Share skills, hobbies and experiences with classes

Parent Information

Arizona State Schools for the Deaf and the Blind



Family support is critical to every child's academic progress and success. Strong partnerships between ASDB, families, school districts and communities help sensory impaired children and youth succeed now and in the future. This Parent Information section of the ASDB website provides information, resources, contact information, direction and support that parents, guardians or caregivers need.

Services of the Parent Information Network Specialist
  • Serving as the point of contact for parents, professionals and members of the community about ASDB programs and the full array of educational services available to sensory impaired children and youth in Arizona.
  • Assisting parents, professionals and members of the community with finding information about organizations of interest to parents of sensory impaired children throughout the state and the services they provide.
  • Assisting in the design and publication of printed or visual materials and parent newsletters which enable others to gain a greater awareness of services provided by the ASDB Agency.
  • Serving as the ASDB Agency liaison for parents, professionals or members of the community.
  • Serving as a contact and liaison for ASDB parent organizations working to support the ASDB community.
  • Assisting the ASDB Superintendent in the creation and delivery of public relations information regarding the accomplishments of students, staff and programs of the ASDB Agency.
